Within this page are the guidelines which Afraid of Elementals has been founded upon. It is highly recommended that members and applicants alike familiarize themselves with these policies as nearly every decision made in guild is based on this content.
Participation and Attendance are the greatest contributing factors to the success of our guild as a whole. Due to their importance in raid planning, recruitment, and raid success we have adopted the following attendance policy. The policy has been designed to award ranks, invites, and loot priority to those who are able to comply with these simple standards and expectations as outlined below:
Sign up appropriately in advance. We generally lock invites the evening prior so that final planning for the evening following may be done. We do realize that as an adult that situations may arise at short notice on occasion which leads to...
Post AFK. If you're going to miss a raid and know in advance, please let us know through a post in our AFK forum. Any short notice AFKs should also be posted here so that there is no opportunity for a miscommunication.
For further information regarding attendance and you, please see our Rank and Loot Policies.
Afraid of Elementals runs on a very light schedule and in order to remain competitive and draw in the caliber of personality and player we seek, it is imperative that we make the best use of our time each and every time we raid. The preparations we make outside of our scheduled raiding hours afford us the opportunity to have a relaxed and enjoyable raid environment with smooth transitions from one raid to the next.
To assist with this, the following expectations will apply to all raiding members of Afraid of Elementals:
• Respond to calendar invites as outlined in the Attendance Policy as well as be ready to raid at the appropriate times. • Maintain appropriate spec with tomes to make adjustments throughout the raid as well as appropriate gear that is properly enchanted, gemmed, and repaired prior to raid. Guild repairs are made available from the guild bank for repairing during regular raiding hours. • Carry all appropriate consumables (flasks, elixirs, pots, food) to last the duration of the raid. These are available from the guild bank and should be withdrawn prior to 8:15pm EST. If your necessary consumable is unavailable or in short supply – please make a request with an officer or Quartermaster as soon as possible. • Be present on Discord and have a working mic during raids. • Use a Raid Warning/Raid Timers addon (DBM, Big Wigs, etc.) Please also ensure that all addons you require as an individual are up-to-date and functioning before a raid begins. • Familiarize yourself with applicable encounters and instances. This includes reviewing the posted strategies on the guild forums and individual research for your role/class. You should fully understand what will be expected of your role before the raid begins.
To any and all interested in submitting an application to join in any raiding capacity the following policy will apply:
All applications must be submitted here on our official website. That also includes Internal Applications and Appeals. Please follow the directions provided on the "Apply" tab. An officer will contact you shortly for further information.
Internal Applications Any guild member of non-raiding rank may apply for raiding at any time. The same application process will apply though an internal candidate will retain their initial rank within the guild should the application be withdrawn or declined.
Appeals Formal requests to change role/class may be made by any active Raider. Appeals will primarily only be considered between raid tiers or at the start of new expansions. The same application process will apply though an Appeal will retain their initial rank should the request be withdrawn or declined.
All Applicants will be acknowledged and made aware of the status of their application within 7 days of the application posting.
Initiate Period The Initiate period is expected to last roughly 4 - 6 weeks such that 8 raids will be attended in a primary role.
Upon completion of an Initiate period, a Recruit will either be promoted, given a trial extension, removed from the guild, or returned to a previous rank at the discretion of guild leadership.
(Note: With the release of BfA, the only loot system in-game will be the Personal Loot system. For any situation that is not covered by the Personal Loot system, the policy below will apply.)
General Though we will maintain a loot council and items will go where they will do the most good for the raid, the following hierarchy will be considered in all decisions made regarding items obtained while in a raid setting:
It is expected that all raid members pass on items quickly so that they may be collected by an officer or designated looter for distribution.
Example: At the end of an encounter all loot will be passed on quickly and the raid will move towards the next objective.
An officer or designated looter will collect all materials (exception being legendary items or components) for distribution while progressing towards the next encounter.
Items will be linked with a call for Main Spec use. At this time those members interested in the item must provide a link of the item they intend to replace in raid chat and a /roll into chat for the purpose of breaking ties in terms of rank, need, and benefit to the raid group.
If no Main Spec interest exists, the item will then be announced for Off-Spec and the same process will apply.
Once the decision has been made, an announcement will follow claiming who the loot has been designated to. The officer or designated looter will trade the item to the raid member at the next convenient time.
Bind on Equip "BoE"s will follow the same hierarchy as regular loot with the exception that it will be extended beyond those currently attending a raid in which they drop. If no Main Spec interest exists the item will then be liquidated on the auction house to assist in funding further raiding.
Raid Dropped Patterns Patterns for items requiring raid dropped crafting materials will be distributed to guild crafters for the purpose of crafting said items with the supplied materials at no additional cost to the guild. Additional patterns may be distributed in guild or sold to purchase additional raid materials at the officers' discretion.
Raid Dropped Crafting Materials Raid Dropped Crafting Materials will be collected by officers during raids and stored in the guild bank for use in crafting items for raid members.
Raid Crafted Items Any Raid Crafted Items may be requested of the guild in the appropriate raid crafted item thread by any member of the guild. The Loot Priority System will apply to the priority in which items are crafted and distributed as materials become available.
Vanity Items All Vanity Items will be distributed on a /roll basis following the general loot priority hierarchy. A limit of one vanity item may be received by a Raid member per expansion until such a time that all raid members have received a Vanity Item.
Legendary Items Legendary items will be designated via loot council only and will not observe any restriction to any previously stated loot policy.
Recruit Applicants or those who are new to make up our Recruit rank. Recruits have limited guild bank access and limited guild repair funds to help ensure a strong and healthy transition to raiding with Afraid of Elementals.
Reserve Our successful Recruits and long standing raiders who maintain an attendance average below 75% make up our Reserve rank. Though limited our members have much more access to the guild bank and an increased limit on guild repair funds to continue to contribute to a strong and healthy raiding environment.
Raider Long term, high attendance, high performance raid members make up our Raider rank. Those who maintain an attendance percentage above 75% will gain the privilege of nearly unlimited guild bank access and a significant increase in funding available for raiding repairs. Those who are of the raider rank will be given priority when forming raids over all other raiding ranks.
